Report on “ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON SELF-EMPLOYMENT” dated 14.03.2020

To make the girl students as self-employed and enable them to get economic empowerment one day workshop on self-employment was organized by the Women Development cell on 14.03.2020, with 150 girl students. Dr. P. Thamizhchelvi, Assitant professor & Head, Department of History welcomed the august gathering. Dr. N. Thangaraj, Principle, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur-Namakkal. Presided over the function. Dr. M. Krishnaraj, Associate professor & Head, Department of English & IQAC co-ordinator spoke on the importance of self-employment for the development individual women specifically and the nation generally. Dr. R. Somasundaram, M.D., President & Secretary, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur-Namakkal, felicitated the programme. Dr S. Parvathi, Assistant professor of Economics and Convener Women Development Cell, brief out the programme. Mrs.S. Kamaladevei Assistant programme officer, NSS-Namakkal. Was the key speaker of the programme. In her speech she spoke on the beneficiaries who received skill training from the JSS and how they became self-employed now with examples, she motivated the students to get training interestingly and to be a self-employed.

Mrs. Nithya, Mrs, Dharani, Mrs, Kalaiselvi and Mrs, Radhika were the trainers. They taught how to make a cutting for toys like teddy bear, Dolphin, Dog, Duck and so on. They trained the student on toys making as well as artificial jewel making like bangle, earing, necklace, chain and so on. The students were offered tea snacks during the training. At the end of the programme certificates were distributed to the participants. Student participants very confident in their learning and they assured to utilize these learning for their earning by making toys and jewels. Dr. S.K. Azakambhigai, Assistant professor of Tamil(S F) proposed vote of thanks, Dr. M. Arunarani , Assistant professor of Economics, Mrs. B. Malathi, & Dr. A. Vimala, Assistant professor of Tamil, Dr. B. Nirmala, Assistant professor of Commerce, and Mrs. Pushpavalli, Assistant professor of Maths, Mrs. Geetha, Assistant professor of Micro biology, effectively organized the programme.
