REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT

On behalf of the women development cell Anti sexual harassment awareness programme was organized on 22.08.2019. Dr. S. Parvathi, Assistant professor of Economics, Convener, Women development Cell,welcomed the august gathering. Dr. N. Thangaraj, Principal, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, delivered presidential address. Dr. K. Saravanan, Associate professor of Economics and Mrs, A. Kalpana, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, were the key speaker of this awareness programme. 560 students and 58 women teachers attended the programme. The key speakers in their address, cherished the campus which is free from harassment. They also emphasized the importance of prevention rather than redress. The laws relatedto anti sexual harassment were also highlighted in the speech. They stressed the need of reporting of any type of harassment within the campus, which will enable them to get relief from that problem, At the end of the programme Mrs. P. Thamizhchelvi Assistant professor & Head, Department of History, member, Women development Cell, proposed vote of thanks.

The anti-sexual harassment awareness programme was highly useful to the students who took participation in the programme. They were enlightened with various laws related to the harassment.

REPORT ON TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON SELF-EMPLOYMENT

The women Development Cell of Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Conducted a two day workshop on self-employment. The main objective of this workshop is to provide a training for the girlstudents to make them self-employed. The programme was inaugurated on 13.09.2019. Dr. N. Thangaraj, The Principal of our college, presided over the function. Mr. K. Santhanm, Director JSS was the special invitee. In his key note Address MR. Santhanam stressed the importance of skill training, he also brief out how the skill training programmes enable them to get self-employment and economic empowerment. Mrs Kamaladevi Programme assistant of JSS along with 5 trainees took participation in the event. The programme started with welcome address by Dr.S.K. Alhakambigai, Assistant professor of Tamil.Dr.S. Parvathi, Assistant professor of Economics and Convener of women Development Cell gave a brief note on the programme. Dr, B. Niramal, Assistant professor of commerce, proposed the vote of thanks.

After inaugural session, the training programme was started. In the first day of the workshop, eyebrow threading andfacial training was given to the students. The next day bridal make up, flower decoration training was given to them. Then the two days self-employment workshop ended on 14.09.2019 with valedictory function .Dr. M. Arunarani, Assistant professor of Economics welcomed the gathering, Dr. M. Krishnaraj IQAC co-coordinator presided over the function. Dr. S. Parvathi, Assistant professor of Economics and Convener of women Development Cell brief out the report of the programme.Feedback session was also conducted in the valedictory event to get the opinion from the student regarding the skill training.

Studentswere highly satisfied about what they learned during this training programme. Many students participant expressed that they will make use of this training to earn by the way of part time job. Dr. A. Vimala, Assistant professor of Tamil, proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. S. Kamaladevi, programme Assistant, JSS Namakkal gave a key note address on the valedictory session. More than 150 girl students took Participation in the two day self-employment workshop.

REPORT OF AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON WOMEN SAFETY AND KAVALAN APP

Women development cell of Kandaswami Kandar’s College, in association with Velur and Paramathi police station organized an awareness programme on women safety and Kavalan app on 9th December 2019. The Inspector of Police K.M. Manoharan, sub inspector of Police Smt. Chitra & Smt, Sumathi head constables Mr.Sivakumar and Miss.Tulasimani and others along with women development cell members took part in the programme. The Inspector of Police, Velur, K.M. Manoharan, addressed the students regarding the safety of girl students. The safety measures which are all, the girl students must undertake and so on. The Sub Inspector of police Smt. Chitra & Smt, Sumathi explained the usage of Kavalan app and how it to be installed in android mobile phone and how it works and how much it will be helpful to the women at the time of perilous and how it will protect the women from the risky situation and so on. They explained the installations of the app by showing their mobile, they were also distributed the broucher containing the information on the method of installation of Kavalan app. 600 hundred girl students attend the programme. The programme was highly informative as well as useful to the girl students and this programme enhanced the girls safety thorough Kavalan app.

REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

The Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Women Development Cell organized the International women’s day celebration on March ,4. 2020. Dr. P. Shanmugavadivu, Professor of Computer Science and Applications, Director, IQAC, Gandhigram Rural Institute was the chief guest. In her speech she highlighted the role of women in nation building, her speech embraced, how womencanbreak out the glass of hurdles and how shecan turned to be an achiever by building a strong self-confidence. Her motivational speech inspired the students. Dr. R. Somasundaram, M.D., President and Secretary of Kandaswami Kandar’s College, and Mr. S.T.N. Mahindar Mani, Administrative officer felicitated the programme. Dr. N. Thangaraj, Principal, Kandaswami Kandar’s college, gave presidential address. Dr. P. Shanthi , Associate Professor of English and Former syndicate member Periyar university, Salem. welcomed the august gathering, Dr. S. Parvathi, Assistant Professor of Economics and Convener of Women Development Cell, introduced the chief guest, and Mrs.Usha,Spl. Grade senior steno typist proposed the vote of thanks. Theservices of all the women teachers and women non-teachingstaffs were acknowledged during the celebration, they were honoured with memento. On the eve of women’s day celebration various competition were conducted like quiz, oratory, singing, Rangoli, Drawing, cookery, poetry writing , Fashion show, Mahanadi. In order to bring out the hidden talents of students.The students took activeparticipation in all the events. Certificates and prizes were distributed to thewinners of the competition. Cultural programmes were also given by students to amplify the celebration.

To create awareness among the women the rights and legal awareness programme was also organized by the Women’s Development Cell of Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Miss. S. AsseenaBanu, B.L., Sub-Judge, Chairman, Legal service committee, Paramathi- Namakkal addressed among the students and she created legal awareness among the students by explaining the various women protection law, laws against female child exploitation, child labour, harassment against women, domestic violence. Her speech was instrumental in bringing awareness on various women safety legislation, her speech showed light on women legal rights, women empowerment and education.

On March 8th2020 Women Development Cell organized an International women’s day celebration in association with JSS-Namakkal, TalukLegal service committee, Paramathi. Various competitions like essay writing on women achievers, follower designing and tradition food cookery competition were held to enhance the entrepreneurial skill among the women participants. Mr.Santhanam, Director of JSS Namakkal welcomed the August gathering, Dr. R. Somasundaram, M.D., Presidentof Kandaswami Kandar’s Educational trust presided over the function. The function was organized in the presence of Mr. G. Ikkbal, wise president JSS-Namakkal, and Dr. N.Thangaraj, Principal, Kandaswami Kandar’s college, Velur-Namakkal. Dr. T. Santhi, M.B.B.S., D.G.O., Chief medical officer, Government Hospital Velur, Dr. S. Parvathi, Assistant Professor of Economics and Convener of Women Development Cell, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur-Namakkal and Mr.K.Lakshmanaswami B.A., B.L., Advocate, Namakkal felicitated the programme. Miss. S. AsseenaBanu, B.L., Sub-Judge, Chairman, Taluk Legal service committee, Paramathi- Namakkal gave a special address. Mrs.S. Kamaladevi, Programme Assistant, JSS Namakkal proposed the vote of thanks.Certificate and prizes were distributed to the winners and participants of various competitions organized on the eve of women’s day celebration.

In this programme Dr.T.Santhi, M.B.B.S., D.G.O., Chief medical officer, Government Hospital, Velurin her speech focused on women health issues, and precautionary measures that should be taken to avoid communicable disease including Corono virus. Her speech was highly useful and informative to the students as well as participants including public.

REPORT ON ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON SELF-EMPLOYMENT

To make the girl students as self-employed and enable them to get economic empowerment one day workshop on self-employment was organized by the Women Development cell on 14.03.2020, with 150 girl students. Dr. P. Thamizhchelvi, Assitant professor & Head, Department of History welcomed the august gathering. Dr. N. Thangaraj, Principle, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur-Namakkal. Presided over the function. Dr. M. Krishnaraj, Associate professor & Head, Department of English & IQAC co-ordinator spoke on the importance of self-employment for the development individual women specifically and the nation generally. Dr. R. Somasundaram, M.D., President & Secretary, Kandaswami Kandar’s College, Velur-Namakkal, felicitated the programme. Dr S. Parvathi, Assistant professor of Economics and Convener Women Development Cell, brief out the programme. Mrs.S. Kamaladevei Assistant programme officer, NSS-Namakkal. Was the key speaker of the programme. In her speech she spoke on the beneficiaries who received skill training from the JSS and how they became self-employed now with examples, she motivated the students to get training interestingly and to be a self-employed.

Mrs. Nithya, Mrs, Dharani, Mrs, Kalaiselvi and Mrs, Radhika were the trainers. They taught how to make a cutting for toys like teddy bear, Dolphin, Dog, Duck and so on. They trained the student on toys making as well as artificial jewel making like bangle, earing, necklace, chain and so on. The students were offered tea snacks during the training. At the end of the programme certificates were distributed to the participants. Student participants very confident in their learning and they assured to utilize these learning for their earning by making toys and jewels. Dr. S.K.
